Groups & Workshops

Groups provide the unique opportunity to receive multiple reflections in a safe environment. With assistance from therapists, group members work on verbalizing feelings, sharing space and time, actively expressing caring, and establishing personal boundaries. A powerful method for growth and change, we offer a number of groups including:

General Infertility Support Group

Infertility can be a lonely experience and research has shown that support groups can be a highly effective way to cope with the stress and distress of treatment. This virtual group focuses on all types of infertility issues and will help individuals and couples: identify and practice ways to cope with infertility; share new information; understand about the unique losses of infertility/pregnancy loss; improve communication with your partner and others; process decision-making about treatment; provide support to one another; and decrease the isolation of infertility.

The group is primarily different sex couples using donor egg, but can also include couples using donor sperm or embryo, etc. Some participants might be single or in a same sex relationship if they are using double donation or donor embryo. The group provides opportunity to discuss about the unique aspects of considering using a donor and loss of genetic relationship.

Parenting Group for Donor Conceived Children

This group is a virtual time limited, closed group for those parenting a child conceived with the help of donor conception. This is an interactive group to discuss issues and topics that come up that might be specific to donor conception. We will work on formatting a story and discuss ways to integrate this at home. The group will be structured with educational information, such as, the cognitive development of donor-conceived children and what they can understand at different ages/stages; what we know about the impact of disclosure on the child and family; talking to family and friends; donor-linked peer considerations; and creating a “family origin story.” There will also be opportunities to share personal stories and experiences.
